Catalogue Note

A la conception minimaliste du visage - face épannelée, traits résumés à leur schéma géométrique - répond la force des volumes projetés dans l'espace et la puissante dynamique engendrée par la rencontre de l'axe vertical médian et des bras/cornes déployés au sommet. Bois dur et profonde patine d'usage, brun clair, croûteuse par endroits.

S'ajoute la très grande rareté du type : en effet, selon Le Moal (1980 : 210), les masques Bobo ne sont généralement pas surmontés d'une figurine. cf. Roy (1987 : 341, n° 296) pour l'un des très rares autres masques Bobo dont la superstructure ne se décline pas en cornes ou en motifs abstraits, mais représente un cavalier.
