La dynamique des volumes - rythmes successifs, juxtaposition des plans et accentuation des points de rupture - renvoie de manière saisissante au vocabulaire qui fonda le Cubisme. Jouant sur la disproportion des membres, l'avant-bras gauche s'étire jusqu'au menton pour mettre en valeur le visage marqué par la hardiesse des traits projetés en haut relief, et le puissant volume de la tête souligné par les chevilles en bois signifiant la chevelure. Bois clair à patine brune, avec traces de pigments rouges.

Typical surface wear consistent with age and use within the culture. A few wooden nails missing. Few small holes and superficial abrasion due to insects, as evident in the catalogue illustration, stabilized.

La profonde cavité creusée au dos, rare, confirme l'usage rituel d'ordre thérapeutique (cf. Zeitlyn in RMN, 1997 : 230) de cette puissante et ancienne statue tatep, dont le style se situe à la limite des influences Mambila, Mfunte et Kaka, dans la vallée du Donga.
