Cet élégant cimier ci-wara se distingue par le très beau jeu de courbes rythmant la composition complexe (associant la représentation stylisée de l'antilope hippotrague et du pangolin), et par la finesse de son exécution, la surface gravée de motif en chevrons. Ancienne et profonde patine d'usage, brillante sur les reliefs.

Provenance

Collecté en 1965 par Monsieur J.D., dans la région de Kangaba, pays Malinké, au sud de Bamako. Il est accompagné d'une photographie de terrain, prise lors de la collecte.

Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Horns: old breaks (left back horn broken and glued) and missing parts (front horn and very end of the back horn).
