Ci wara, l'antilope et son faon résumés à leurs formes essentielles dans une composition jouant sur les vides, mettant en valeur la puissante dynamique des lignes et la majesté de la pose. Les fronts sont ornés de motifs en chevrons champlevés, atténués par l'épaisse patine sombre; les pupilles serties de fer.

Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. The very ends of the mother horns restaured. Indigenous repair on the baby horns. Thin stable cracks to the edge of the base.

Catalogue Note

Parmi les cimiers-antilopes de type vertical (Imperato en 1970) - présents surtout dans l'est du pays Bamana - se distingue en particulier le style dit "de Ségou". Ce cimier en constitue un très beau témoin, exprimant parfaitement les idées de puissance et de majesté célébrées par ces emblèmes de la société Ci-wara.
