Le pommeau de très beau volume de ce sceptre - rare chez les Massim- illustre le thème classique dans l'art mélanésien de la "figure accroupie". Les membres stylisés en fines volutes ajourées confinent à l'abstraction, mettant en valeur la puissance de la tête. Le personnage et les sections animant le fût sont entièrement ornés d'un décor champlevé de volutes entremêlées, rehaussées de chaux dans les creux de la gravure.
