a. Bahau, Mahakam river. Rare fourreau finement gravé en bas-relief du motif aso - représenté dans son intégralité, signe d'appartenance à un haut lignage. La lame est ciselée sur toute la longueur.
b. Bahau, Mahakam river. De grande dimension, elle se distingue par son lien de portage qui s'achève en un chapelet de perles enserré en son milieu par un coquillage conus.
c. Iban, Mahakam river. Profonde et ancienne patine d'usage du manche finement ouvragé.

Catalogue Note
Dans la culture de Bornéo, les armes sont un élément essentiel de l'attribut masculin, avec pour expression suprême les épées mandau. Elles se composent d'une fine lame en minerai de fer, d'un fourreau en bois et d'une poignée en corne de cervidé arborant deux aigrettes en crin. Omniprésent dans l'art de Bornéo, l'aso - créature surnaturelle associant les traits du chien à ceux du dragon – se retrouve sur les manches des épées. Protection contre les esprits maléfiques, l'aso est aussi un symbole de prestige. (cf. Kjellgren in Tribal Arts, V.21, 1999 : 55-57).
