Ce pendentif ikoko se distingue par son volume remarquable, accentuant la majesté du visage et de l'expression. Selon les canons classiques du style des Pende Katundu, la ligne continue des sourcils s'abaisse à la naissance du nez retroussé tandis que les yeux se ferment sous les lourdes paupières triangulaires. Patine laiteuse.  

Provenance

Accompagnant l'œuvre, un certificat de la Galerie Ratton Hourdé, rédigé après sa vente chez Christie's en juin 2002, atteste que ce pendentif provient de la collection Aristide Courtois, et qu'il aurait également appartenu à Paul Guillaume.

Condition

Very good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Very few hairline cracks, along the chin and the back.
