Catalogue Note

The painting is sold with extensive documentation regarding Jawalji and this painting and his exhibition, prepared by Thomas Saunders.

According to the accompanying documentation this painting shows the waterways in Lansdowne Station country and reads: 'The one on the right goes to Dulunyjawa, Mudhouse. From left to right are the four waterways...: 1. The Little Gold River which flows to Pyra Gorge; 2. One Mile Creek, the creek that goes down to old Lansdowne homestead; 3. the Leopold River that goes to Lansdowne homestead and Baker's Yard; 4. the River that goes to Dulunyjuwa.

The waterways are all part of Lansdowne country. Dulunyjuwa is the name of mudhouse which is where old Barney Lowry's home was. The location of Dulunyjuwa or the river has not been identified. All of these waters flow into the Fitzroy River.'
