An embossed brown and gilt leather letter box, French or Italian 18th Century

the gilt-metal handle with backplate cast with a classical figure beneath  a rotunda, the leather embossed with a grotesque mask, the inside with felt lined  compartments; together with a Northern European mahogany, fruitwood and bois citronnier marquetry work box, circa 1850, the interior with a removable tray fitted with small compartments with lids above a further compartment (not illustrated)

The letter box: old very minor marks chips and scratches. One foot missing but can easily be replaced.. Very Minor loss to leather rear left corner hardly noticeable. In otherwise good condition. The work box: generally in good condition. The lid is slightly warped. There are losses to inlay around the edges. Old marks and scratches consistent with age and use.
