Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. Right foot retipped. Old minor restoration top left side which is only visible when piece is viewed from the back. Small chip to glass above left scrolled foot. Recent minor regluing to scroll on right foot. In otherwise good condition.

This frame with its elaborate carving and glass with raised elliptical motifs originates from the same workshop as the group of girandoles, an example of which is in the Royal Palace in Turin and illustrated by Antonetto, op. cit., p. 206, plate 286, and Baccheschi, op. cit., p. 59.

A pair of girandoles identical to the Royal model and part of this same group, was sold from the Estate of the late Giuseppe Rossi, in these Rooms, Vol. I, 10th March 1999, lot 3 (£45,000).
