Condition
Unrestored condition; the first with cracks to the gesso of the cresting with chips to gesso and gilding; small cracks to frame of right side apron with cracks and small losses; losses to the ends of the floral swags; chips to leaf of pendant of apron; the other with cracks to gesso of cresting with small losses; cracks to the frame; apron with cracks and small losses to gesso, loss to end of right floral swag at join with inner right candle arm; bell flower pendant to apron lacking; overall with rubbing and wear to gilding with rubbing and wear to gilding with some small stains and chips.

Catalogue Note
C. Nosotti is probably the Charles Andrea Nosotti, who is first recorded as a carver, gilder, upholsterer and cabinetmaker with premises at 2 Dean Street Soho, 1835 to 1840. He appears to have originated in Milan, and is recorded as having exhibited a cabinet in the 1862 Exhibition and received a commission from the Countess of Waldegrave for Strawberry Hill. He advertised Danish furniture in the Art Journal Catalogue of the International Exhibition, 1867, including 'Some choice specimens of Cabinet and Upholstery Furniture, Grand Pianos' further noting that the firm was under the patronage of the Princess of Wales.
