Description

  • overall height 40 1/2 in.; diameter of stand 22 3/4 in.; diameter of globe 18 in.
  • 102.9 cm; 57.8 cm; 45.7 cm
Restorations, losses.

Condition

Restored condition, the globe with cracks and restored breaks to the poles at the hour rings, the surface slightly over-cleaned with some subsequent losses to the printing on the gores and with areas of discoloration; there are a few small nicks to the lower hemisphere and scratches. The stand in restored condition; small loss to paper of the horizon ring approximately 1 1/2 inches by 3/4 inches; the horizon ring clean and with minor inpainting, lifting and minor chips to the edges; the quarter-supports slightly loose at join with stem; one quarter support with old repaired break at join with stem; the legs are stable and with very minor separation with stem and with old glue a joins with stem; the compass with a later pin and glass cover which is loose from the compass; overall the stand with old marks, scratches, nicks and bruises consistent with age and use.
