Description

  • circular frame diameter 14 3/4 in.; rectangular frame 28 1/2 in. by 31 1/4 in.; sight 19 1/2 in. by 22 1/2 in.
  • 37.5 cm; 72.4 cm; 79.4 cm; 49.3 cm; 57.2 cm
comprising a pair of Eastern and Western hemispheric maps, London, published by William Faden (1750-1836) together with a pair of Astronomy Charts From Atlas Coelestis in quo Mundus Spectabilisohann Baptist Homann [Homann Heirs], Nuremberg: 1748, Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724) (cartographer) Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1677-1750) (astronomer). Later hand-colored, later matted and framed, not examined out of frames.

Condition

Overall good condition; the two small circular engravings with slight rippling and foxing the frames with minor scratches; each large rectangular engraving with a crease to the middle, one of which with a small tear at the bottom edge and with some restoration; both large engravings with rippling and some minor foxing.
