Overall fair condition; the later paint to the surface flaking and with extensive losses and showing the original red-japanned, parcel-gilt surface to the underside in places; the legs with extensive loss to all painted layers now showing the wood; each long side with slight separation at lines of construction of apron and brackets; each short side formerly fitted with a bamboo apron like the front and back and now with two plugs to the underside of the rail and a hole at either side at join with each leg; each leg with infilled holes where apron was formerly attached; old worm to corner struts and to cross bar; spring wires to underside with hooks to hold up upholstered seat; two legs slightly loose; three casters slightly loose; would benefit from the removal of the later painted layer, and to restore the original surface.
