Possibly originally with a plinth or supports.
Condition
Overall good condition; the oak stripped and now with a lightly washed surface; front right corner of top with small chips and separation; front left corner with a restored section; the frieze with a horizontal age crack to the left of the human mask and running into its beard; each canted corner with lifting to the veneer beneath the anthemion carved leaf; the anthemion leaf to the apron probably re-glued; the apron with several age cracks: two age crack with slight separation and inpainting to the left on the scroll, two age crack to the center with separation; one age crack to the middle of the right with inpainting, one age crack to the scroll with separation; each side scrolled bracket with an age crack with slight separation; slight split and lifting and small losses to the edge of the left leg at the knee with small chips; large chip to the back left corner of the square molded collar to the right leg above the paw foot; the underside of each paw foot with a large plug, possibly originally the join for a plinth base; overall with old marks, scratches scuffs, and bruises consistent with age and use.
