A Regency green japanned brass-mounted caned spoonback armchair circa 1810

Overall fair restored condition; redecorated; probably originally ebonized; structurally sound; chips and losses to painted surface especially around lines of construction of the backrest; losses to the left armrest and to downswept armrest supports revealing and ebonized surface; old repaired break to left handhold a join with armrest support; caning very dry and with breaks to the right side and front edge; the associated cushion in distressed condition; separation at lines of construction of the front legs at joins with side rails, with a shim between the left seat rail and front leg; front left leg with an old repaired break with a plug to the backside; small re-glued chip to the underside of the seat rail at join with back left leg; areas of old worm to back of backrest and to underside of seat rails; caster probably replaced; inpainted to tips of back feet; overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises.
