Condition
Original canvas. There is a feint stretcher bar mark along the upper edge, some old minor paint separation to the dark brown pigments in the bottom half of the composition and some minor areas to the peasant's trousers otherwise in good overall condition.
Under ultraviolet light, there are some small areas and flecks of retouching around the edges and two fine lines approx 2in. long by each of the bottom left and right edges.
Held in a painted plaster frame under glass; unexamined out of frame.
