Condition

The canvas is in good original condition. There are a few small cracks in some of the thicker white paint, and there appear to be some very tiny specks of old paint loss in the upper right quadrant. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals a few small marks of retouching: a small spot in the upper right corner, a few marks in the centre of the painting, and a short vertical line along the right edge which corresponds to a stretcher mark. Held under glass in a gilded and painted box frame. Please telephone the department on 020 7293 5381 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
