Condition
Overall goo restored condition; the top with minor scratches and wear; lifting to veneers to corners of drawer-fronts with some cracks and very minor losses; gilt-bronze was previously cleaned and with some small areas of oxidation with minor dirt and tarnishing; overall with some old marks and scratches.

The present commode is based on the 18th century pair of commodes made by Jean-François Leleu (1729-1807) for the bedchamber of the Duchesse de Bourbon in Paris, and delivered on May 1, 1773.
