Catalogue Note

After taking over the wall paper hanging business of his father, George Trollope became paper hanger to King George IV in 1830 and in 1842 to Queen Victoria. The firm expanded into interior decoration and later a separate branch of cabinet-makers was set up. In 1851, the firm became formally known as George Trollope and Sons and was recorded in West Halkin Street, London by 1864.
