A pair of gilt-bronze mounted and vernis Martin decorated inlaid satiné, ebony and satinwood cabinets Paris, circa 1875

each with satinwood interior, two spring released frieze drawers, both vernis Martin indistinctly signed, one lockplate has been removed to reveal the mark A. CHAILLET / PARIS. 

Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Slight tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places. Cracqueleur to vernis Martin panels. On one, one gilt bronze mount missing to the back right hand side. Red velvet lining to writing slide later replacing old leather surface. Only one key for both cabinets. Minor losses to veneers to legs, age cracks to side consistent with wood shrinkage coming through carcass and veneer. One cabinet has one side with sun damage resulting in a much lighter veneer color. Both cabinets with losses to veneers around the spring released doors. Scratches to top of both cabinets.
