inscribed in gilding EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNATIONALE MDCCCLXXVIII PARIS, red printed Doré à Sèvres 79 circle mark and green printed S.79 within an oval, painter's monogram in gilt inside the cover.
Condition
Good condition. Very minor wear to gilt decoration in places. Minor hairline crack running vertically in the central pate-sur-pate decorated portion of the shaft.

Known as the prix de Sèvres, this presentation cup and cover was designed by Edmé Couty. It was presented as an award of excellence to the premier laureate group of decorative arts at the Exposition Universelle de Paris, 1878.
