each surmounted by a brèche d'alep marble top, the first with two frieze drawers above a pull-out writing slide above a pair of cupbaord doors, the other with two frieze drawers above an open shelf above a pair of tambour doors, one with a pseudo SORMANI stamp.

Both in very good original untouched condition; the tambour cabinet with losses to the veneer around the edges of the shelf compartment and with other losses to edges around tambour doors; both with their original gilt-tooled leather writing surface; very fine cast and chased mounts but dirty and tarnished; light scratches to marble tops; the pierced galleries with some dents and slight bending in places.

The basis of the attribution to Durand is the familiar walnut-lined drawer sides with rounded tops seen almost exclusively on this workshop's furniture.
