Condition
The canvas has been re-lined. There are scattered areas of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the sky and to the dress of the central figure. Apart from some loss of the surface texture due to the re-lining and scattered small areas of fine craquelure, this work is in good condition, with rich, bright colours, and ready to hang. Held in a decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
