Condition

Original canvas. There are scattered areas of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the upper left side and to the curtain in the background, partially obscured by a heavy varnish. Apart from a minor area of horizontal repair (approx. 2cm.) to the lower centre (patched on the reverse), scattered fine craquelure throughout, and pinhead-sized flecks of paint loss, notably two flecks to the upper centre and a fleck to the upper right, this work is in good condition, with rich colours and fine detail. Held in a highly decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
