Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has not been restored for a number of years. The canvas has been lined and the lining is still quite successful. The paint layer is visibly quite dirty and a good deal of dir and yellowed varnish could be removed to reveal a much brighter palette. Very often paintings by Corot show abrasion or retouching, yet with this picture it seems unlikely that there are any paint losses or restorations, which is commendable and unusual. A careful cleaning and a tightening of the canvas would be recommended to present the picture properly.
