Condition
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This painting has been lined with wax as an adhesive and while the picture has been recently restored and the lining is adequate, the retouching is quite broad.
The retouching is visible under ultraviolet light in the right arm, chest, left arm and left leg of cupid. Venus shows a few retouches in the face and while retouches are to be expect in Seignac's work, these may be a little broad. There are also some broad glazes which have been applied in the background to the left of cupid. The lining is sufficient but the retouches should be reexamined.
