Condition
Overall the condition of the marble is very good. There is some minor wear and dirt consistent with age. There are traces of polychromy throughout, including gilding to the cross pendant. The column has a revolving top, between the two sections are two worn white labels worn through spinning the top. One label indistinctly inscribed in pencil: 'Randell ex. 166'.

Catalogue Note
A Florentine artist of superb skill, Antonio Frilli belongs to the tradition of distinguished Italian carvers whose craft was used in virtually every sculptor's studio across Europe. Frilli was well known for his busts and this present marble is an excellent example. The bust illustrates all his technical accomplishment and the virtuosity of his carving in the delicate execution of her costume and flowers.
