Catalogue Note
This is the original plaster model of Faisan, tête tournée à gauche, listed in Poletti & Richarme's catalogue as 'current location unknown.' Barye conceived his two pheasants as pendants, with one turning his head to the left and the other to the right. The models were offered together in the vente Barye, with a mention of this plaster version of the Faisan, tête tournée à gauche: " modèle en bronze avec son plâtre." Jacquemart purchased the model for the Barbedienne foundry which went on to edit both pendants.
