Catalogue Note

This novel statue of a young woman about to dive into the water is Odoardo Tabacchi's most famous model. The genre subject is daringly modern as the woman wears a short, one piece swimming costume. There are no allegorical or pastoral allusions in this delightful slice of contemporary life, it is simply a spontaneous moment as the girl purposefully holds her hands together above her head and leans forward to take the plunge.
