Condition

Work on first canvas. From a first hand inspection there is a small loss (mm 4) over the rock in the lower part and along the left hand side edge, moreover a scratch (cm 3) with a patch on the back of the canvas. The ultra violet light reveals a strong fluorescent old varnish spread homogeneously over the surface. The surface look dirty due to thick deposits of dust specially over the sky. It is suggested a carful cleansing to give back light. The overall condition as to the state of preservation is very good.

Catalogue Note

Verosimilmente l'opera, o lo studio per essa, esposta a Palazzo della Permanente a Milano in occasione dell'Esposizione Annuale del 1924, con il titolo, appunto, Grignetta (n. 460), il dipinto presentato fa parte della prima produzione sistematica avviata dal pittore.

Il riferimento principale dell'attività di Albertini dei primi anni '20 è senz'altro Segantini, dal quale mutuerà la tecnica divisionista, anche se in forma semplificata e poi modificata con l'inserimento di un colorismo fauve che troviamo ben dispiegato nel nostro Grignetta e che resterà sempre il suo carattere distintivo sia che dipinga paesaggi assolati, montagne in autunno o baite ricoperte di neve.
