Condition

STRUCTURE This board appears to be sound but would benefit from being remounted in its frame. The colours are strong and there are areas of rich impasto but the picture may benefit from a light clean and revarnishing. There are no signs of craquelure and the paint surface appears to be stable throughout. The bottom corner has been damaged by the board lifting within the mount but this could be obscured by remounting. There are two small areas of discoloured retouching visible in the background above the bottles. This would benefit from being reconsolidated. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT The retouchings in the background are visible under ultraviolet light and there are further retouchings on the face. FRAME This picture is contained in its original moulded plaster frame.
