A fine Regency ivory-mounted penwork box with tea caddies circa 1810

the shaped oblong box decorated overall on an ivory ground with flowers and leaves in black penwork in the manner of Indian chintz, the interior decorated in a similar manner, the lid with an oriental scene with figures and with two lidded caddies decorated with oriental figures, centering a compartment for a mixing bowl.

The box maintains much of the original painted decoration, which would have been white, now slightly yellowed in color due to the old varnish, the underside of the cover with a small area of inpainting, one caddy with repaired crack to top of back panel, areas of lifting and loss to the lead linings, some wear and dirt to the ivory mounts, overall with some old scratches and scuffs.
