A GEORGE III INLAID MAHOGANY CABINET circa 1785

with a stepped molded cornice centered by an arched pediment with fan veneers above two glazed doors banded with ebony and with boxwood lines with gothic style arched molded astragals fitted with shelves, the extended cabinet below similarly banded with two doors centered by oval figured panels within tulipwood cross banding and enclosing sliding shelves above a solid molded plinth.

The catalogue illustration is too orange in tone. The cabinet has a warmer mellower color. Overall the cabinet is in a good restored condition. There are small old chips to the edges of the cornice. There is some slight lifting and cracking to the ebony branding to the right side of the frieze below the cornice. Likewise there is a little lifting to the banding at the front left corner of the base section on the top surface. There is a cracked pane of glass to the bottom right pane on the right door. Small losses and chips to the inlay and banding on the plinth and chips to veneer. There is a slight age crack at the 11 o'clock position to the right cupboard door. Overall an attractive cabinet in good overall condition with minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use.
