Condition

Original canvas. There are scattered spots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the extreme edges and to a grey area at the centre of the left edge. There is a discoloured varnish and some slight lifting and loss of the painted surface notably to the upper and lower left corners, but there is strong detail and impasto. Held in a simple, brown and gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
