Condition
This condition report has been provided by Jane McAusland FIIC, Conservator and Restorer of Art on Paper, Nether Hall Barn, Old Newton, Nr Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14.
Support
This work is, at present, mounted on a foam board in a frame. The condition of the sheet looks good. There is an artist pinhole centre top and a few creases on the lower right-hand corner. There is a white 'O' in the right-hand corner, and a scuff in the corner on the left in the margin. Otherwise, it is in a good condition.
Medium
There are some areas of re-touching on this gouache, mostly on the black margin. However, there is a small area upper right encroaching on the brown, and two other small areas of re-touching in the brown on the left and in the blue towards the right, these may be artist corrections. Otherwise, the colours are bright and lively.
The illustration shows the colours to be a little less vibrant than the original.
Note: This work was viewed behind glass and outside studio conditions.

Catalogue Note
Consistently constructivist art made little general impact on Denmark, but it had one representative in Franciska Clausen. Clausen spent the inter-war years in Germany and France, where she was originally the pupil and close collaborator of Fernand Léger. Later she co-founded the group called Cercle et Carré, which exhorted the international avant-garde of Constructivism to oppose the progress of Surrealism.
