Condition

Not examined out of frame and under glass, apart from some slight discolouration, the sheet is in good condition. Apart from two small scratches to the centre left and upper right edges, the work is in good overall condition and ready to hang. Held in a wide, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame, under glass.

Catalogue Note

Inge Schiöler was born in Strömstad on the west coast of Sweden. After studying under Tor Bjurstöm at the Valand Academy and a period in France, Inge Schiöler took as his main inspiration the remote islands of Koster, where he painted his most intense and vibrant landscapes and could often be seen mixing his paints directly on the rocks (fig. 1).
