Catalogue Note

A commentary on Konrad Gesner's Mithridates de differentiis linguis (1555), an account of about 130 known languages and the Oratio Dominica in 22 tongues. Waser refutes Gesner's claim that Hungarian was an unsuitable language for Biblical translation by quoting Albert Molnár's version of the Lord's Prayer from his Psalter (see lot 4624).
