first edition. Johann Vogt's compilation of rare books, drawn largely from the catalogues of private libraries and intended for use by both scholars and booksellers, was "perhaps the best known and most successful compilation of this kind" (Taylor). Four further editions of this work were published between 1738 and 1793.
