Catalogue Note
Although lacking the first 23 leaves, this copy of Tissard's early and influental work on Greek and Hebrew linguistics does contain most of the linguisitic content including alphabets, numerals, Hebraic declensions and conjugations, the Pater Noster and other short devotional texts.
A celebrated aspect of this work, which is one of the first Greek books to be printed in Paris (see Macclesfield English, lot 4148), is the first appearance in print of the Hippocratic oath, in Greek with a Latin translation.
