first edition of this grammar of the vernacular spoken by the Persian Armenian community in Amsterdam. The author of this first detailed western account of the history of the Armenian language was a professor of oriental languages at Marburg. Three of the engraved illustrations contain different Armenian scripts; the Armenian text is said to have been set by the Vanandec'i brothers who worked in Amsterdam.
