Catalogue Note

We have only been able to trace a later edition of Libellus alphabeticus, printed by Jan Michal Landerer in the second half of the eighteenth century, still in Bratislava. Although Bratislava is now the capital of Slovakia, at the time this book was printed it was called Pozsony and was the capital of Hungary, under the Habsburgs.

Slavonic primers survive in reasonable numbers; in Cleminson's survey of pre-1700 Cyrillic books in the UK, nineteen editions are recorded, but not either of those here present.
