folio (347 x 212mm.), [16], 271, [13], 196, 39, [1]pp., illustration: engraved map, woodcut illustrations, woodcut device on title-page, woodcut initials and headpieces, binding: contemporary blind-stamped calf, metal catches, lettering-piece, title written on fore-edge, manuscript notes on a couple of bound-in sheets, light staining and spotting, some pages browned, a few tears with marginal loss, binding rubbed, lacking clasps

Provenance

Jan van t'Sestich, professor of law at Louvain, ownership inscription on pastedown and title-page; Humphrey Hody (1659-1707), signature and price paid for the book (12 shillings and sixpence) on front endpaper. Hody was Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford, fellow of Wadham and chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury. According to his will, on his death the choicest of his books were to go to the Bodleian with the remainder destined for his college.
