Catalogue Note
This is one of numerous illustrated Lyon editions (the first of which had been printed by Davost in 1510) which employed fifteen cuts, attributed to Guillaume le Roy, from those designed for Giovanni Bonsignore's Italian translation that had first appeared in a Venetian edition by Rosso in 1497. Jean Robion was active in Lyon between 1511 and 1515, and worked in close collaboration with Jean de Clauso. Indeed both their monograms are included within the woodcut border of the present title-page.
