Catalogue Note

Third issue of this catalogue, the first with a preface. The classical scholar Jacques Oisel formed one of the largest private libraries in Holland in the seventeenth century. As well as more than 11,000 lots of books, this auction catalogue contains at the end nine lots of globes and 43 lots of scientific instruments including telescopes and microscopes. It is also complete with the sixteen-page list of vander Aa's publications. The first issue is dated 1687, the second 1690 and the fourth 1698.
