Catalogue Note
krantz's four most important works. Albert Krantz, theologian and historian, was born in Hamburg where, after studying in Rostock and Cologne, he held various positions at the cathedral, being appointed dean of the cathedral chapter in 1508. While critical of ecclesiastical corruption and abuses of power, he did not share Luther's reforming zeal. The present four works were all first published posthumously: Wandalia and Saxonia in 1518 and 1520 respectively; Chronica regnorum aquilionarium and Metropolis both in 1548. All four were reprinted several times into the seventeenth century.
