Catalogue Note

first edition, containing the first four books only of Kinnamos's history of the Emperors of the East, John II Comnenus (r. 1118-1143) and Manuel I Comnenus (r. 1143-1180), to whom Kinnamos was secretary. The complete text was published in 1670 (see lot 4415).
