Catalogue Note
first edition of this Syriac-Latin lexicon of classical and New Testament Syriac, and Ferrari's first work. The Syriac types used on the title-page are preserved at the Imprimerie Nationale in Paris. As well as holding the chair of Hebrew at the Collegium Romanum for 28 years, Ferrari was also horticultural advisor to the Barberini family and did important work on botanical nomenclature. His two best-known works are De florum cultura (1633) and Hesperides, sive de malorum aureorum cultura (1646).
