first edition. Three years previously Dominicus had published an elementary Arabic grammar (see previous lot).
The present copy was clearly at Aleppo amongst the merchant community (see below). Gwilym Ambrose, in his article "English traders at Aleppo 1658-1756)", Economic History Review 3 (1931-32), pp. 246-267, records the letter-book of a factor William Metcalfe.
