Catalogue Note

first edition of this elementary grammar, rather than a dictionary, containing in the first part several Christian prayers with interlinear Arabic transliterations and translations. Dominicus, born in Silesia, was professor of Arabic at the Franciscan mission school of St Peter in Montorio in Rome. In 1639 he published a Latin/Italian-Arabic dictionary (see next lot).
